GWC Appointment Policies
- Visits per Week Graduate students can make up to three total appointments each week at the Writing Centers of Texas Tech. However, you are limited to one writing consultation on any given day. You can schedule up to a month in advance.
- Late Arrivals If you are more than 10 minutes late for a scheduled appointment, that appointment may be given to another student.
- Cancelations Appointments must be canceled at least 30 minutes in advance to avoid being marked as as a late cancelation. After three late cancelations your account will be locked. To reenable your account, email GWC Director Dr. Jennifer Marciniak (Jennifer.Marciniak@ttu.edu) or Assistant Director Elizabeth Bowen (elizabeth.bowen@ttu.edu).
- How to Cancel/Edit Appointments To cancel/edit, log into the scheduling page, click on your appointment, scroll down and click what you want to do.
- Missed Appointments After two no-shows -- missed appointments that were not canceled in advance -- our scheduling system automatically disables your account. To reenable your account, email GWC Director Dr. Jennifer Marciniak (jmarcini@ttu.edu) or Assistant Director Elizabeth Bowen (elizabeth.bowen@ttu.edu). This policy is meant to discourage missed appointments, which could have been used by other students.
- Professor Communication If you would like us to tell your professor you have visited, please let us know on the appointment form or let your consultant know during the consultation. Due to confidentiality, we do not provide details regarding what you talked about in the consultation, just the time/date you visited.
- Consulting on Exams Any appointments requiring instructor permission (e.g., comprehensive, qualifying, or course exams) must provide that permission at the time the appointment is made. To verify this permission, please upload a pdf copy of an email where the relevant instructor(s) permit us to work with you on this project. Instructors may address any questions to our director staff at gradwritingcenter@ttu.edu. Appointments for exam support without documentation will be canceled.
